I have compassion, empathy and positive regard for everyone I encounter. I became a therapist because I know there is healing needed for many that suffer from mental health and addiction problems. I have worked in residential treatment centers for over 3 years. I had the opportunity to serve clients with varying diagnosis.
I became affiliated with The Oaks at La Paloma and its integrated model of treatment for co-occurring disorders as a primary therapist in January 2017. After facilitating group therapy at a crisis center and conducting individual and family sessions in an outpatient setting, I sought out a dual diagnosis treatment facility where I would be able to maximize my skills and provide optimum service to clients. I have also earned a Specialist in Administration and Leadership from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. This was while I was working as a Special education teacher and later promoted to Director of Special Services. Prior to moving to Mississippi, I taught special education students in North Carolina after receiving a Master’s in Social Work from East Carolina University as well as a Bachelor’s in Sociology with a Concentration in Social Welfare from Winston Salem State University.
I am committed to helping those who need motivation and support while striving for excellence. My primary responsibility as a therapist is to provide individual, family and group therapy sessions. I utilize a variety of theories and models during therapy that include motivational interviewing, psychotherapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive theory and I am newly trained in EMDR.
In my downtime, I embrace motherhood, spend time with family and friends, travel, read and attend church. Mrs. Harris sees children, teens and adults. Ms. Harris is now seeing Children five and above.

I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner providing assessment, support, and medication management for adults and children 5 and up across the spectrum of mental health needs.
I've been fortunate to get nursing experience in a variety of areas but when I started psychiatric nursing I found my home. I’ve worked in inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings. I went on to get my Master’s in Nursing from the University of Alabama in order to treat patients more fully.
Mental health is equally as important as physical health, and I believe the best mental health care takes emotional, social, physical, and spiritual well-being into consideration. I am committed to giving all patients the best care without exception or judgement. I believe patient and provider are partners in care.
Personally, I love to read, garden, travel (I love an adventure!), and paint. My favorite times usually include a driveway full of cars and house filled with laughter.
